As a fervent book reader and TV watcher, I love a good book-to-film adaptation. When you read a book series, you get attached to the characters as if you know them personally. The best part is picturing what they look like and how they act. When the book is being made into a movie or television series, it is so exciting to pick out the actresses and actors that would match perfectly to the characters you have loved or despised.
In September 2016, author Sarah J. Mass announced that her Throne of Glass book series would turn into a television adaptation by Hulu. The TV title Queen of Shadows would take after the fourth book in the seven-book series.
Throne of Glass is a young adult high fantasy series, retelling Cinderella's story with a twist. Celaena Sardothien is a teenage assassin given the opportunity to work for the tyrannical king should she win the competition and be freed from her lifelong imprisonment. In her time free, Celaena discovers secrets about the presumed dead magic of Erilea. The story is very interesting with a witty heroine and a love triangle -- what more could you ask for?!
The Mark Gordon Company (Saving Private Ryan, Murder on the Orient Express, Steve Jobs, Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds...) took on the adaptation with writer Kira Snyder (The Handmaid's Tale, The 100) and director Anna Foerster (Outlander, Westworld).
Yet, there has been little to no news about the show since 2016. As a fan, I hope that Hulu will still take on this project as it would have a huge fanbase and they could do so many cool things with it!
With or without the show, as I said, you attach characters to faces when reading.
